A Marriage Celebrant is an authorised individual who conducts legally binding marriage ceremonies in Australia. They’ll guide you through the legal requirements, help design a ceremony that reflects your love story, and ensure your day runs smoothly.
-
To be legally married in Australia, you and your partner must:
Be at least 18 years old.
Not be married to someone else.
Not be closely related by blood or adoption.
Complete and lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) at least one month (and no more than 18 months) before your wedding date.
Provide identification documents such as birth certificates, passports or driver’s license.
Have two witnesses (over the age of 18) at the ceremony.
-
The NOIM is a legal form that notifies your celebrant of your intention to marry. It must be completed and lodged with your celebrant at least one month before your wedding date and is valid for up to 18 months. I can assist you with completing and lodging this form.
-
Absolutely. As a civil celebrant, I specialise in creating ceremonies that reflect your values.
-
Yes, writing your own vows is a beautiful way to personalise your ceremony. While there are legally required vows that you must say as part of the ceremony, I encourage you to write and share your own vows in addition.
-
Most ceremonies last 20–30 minutes, depending on the elements you want to include, such as readings, rituals, or cultural traditions.
-
Yes I’m happy to travel to your chosen location. Travel fees apply for locations outside my standard service area though.
-
Of course! We’ll work together to ensure these are included in a meaningful way.
-
In the unlikely event that I’m unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, I have “Plan B” in place to ensure another qualified celebrant can step in to officiate your ceremony.
-
A rehearsal is not a must but I highly recommend it, especially if you have a bridal party or specific elements you want to practice. It helps everyone feel confident and ensures the ceremony runs smoothly.
-
Celebrant fees vary depending on the type of ceremony, location, and any additional services you require.

You’ll need to provide:
Your original birth certificates or valid passports.
Photo identification (e.g driver’s licence).
If previously married, official evidence of divorce or a death certificate for your previous spouse.
-
Yes, a legal-only ceremony is perfect for couples who want a quick and straightforward wedding. It includes just the legal components and usually takes 5–10 minutes.
-
I’ll lodge your marriage documents with the Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages within 48 hours of your wedding. The time it takes to receive the certificate from the Registry varies and may take several weeks.
-
Friends or family members can participate by giving readings, sharing stories, or performing rituals. Your ceremony should be a reflection of your unique journey together.
-
If you need to reschedule, let me know as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to accommodate your new date, but please keep in mind that availability can vary.
